Growing up I loved the black + white, comedy classic, "I Love Lucy." If you've seen this 1950's sitcom, you know it follows Lucy + Ricky's life (played by Lucille Ball + Desi Arnez) in New York City where Ricky runs a nightclub and Lucy spends her days stirring up [hilarious] trouble at home + at Ricky's nightclub.
My two favorite episodes are "Lucy and Ethel at the Chocolate Factory" + "Lucy's Vitameatavegimen." If you haven't seen them + are in need of a good, clean laugh, I've linked snippets of the episodes above.

In Lucy's Vitameatavegimen Girl episode, Lucy tries her hand at acting in an infomercial. In each take, she downs a swig of the vitamin syrup (that unbeknownst to her has a high alcoholic content) and with each dose, she becomes more + more inebriated. This vitamin drink promises health, popularity, energy, and all the things many of us strive for in adulthood.
Lucy asks her audience, "Are you tired? Run down? Listless? Do you poop out at parties?" As a little girl, I thought this question was funny but as an adult and mother of two, I'm feeling this way on a daily basis! If you're anything like me, I pack my days full and I'm often tired and worn down.
And this so conveniently leads me to our 2025 theme at Mill Creek - RENEW. With burnout + exhaustion running rampant, I think we are all looking for ways to feel renewed, energized, + revived. We want Mill Creek to be a soft landing place for you on your journey to habitual renewal.
In what ways are we doing this? First off, we're continuing to offer lush green plants that can renew your spirit when you visit but also when you take plants home.
We're hosting events that encourage you to slow down + be present (mindfulness walks + seminars).
We're offering opportunities to move your body (yoga), learn new skills (stay tuned for our plant + sustainability essentials classes), + to connect with loved ones (children's storytime, crafting events for all ages, dinner parties).
We're curating products for the shop that encourage you to nurture yourself + key into your senses.
So, what am I asking of you? Join us on this path to renewal in 2025. Plan a trip to Mill Creek when you feel tired, rundown, listless. It's an honor to greet you at the door and bring a little light into your life.
